“Downed in Yugoslavia”

Our thanks to Alan Armitage, Editor, Friends Journal, Air Force Museum Foundation, Inc., for permission to reproduce here the article, ” Downed in Yugoslavia” by the late Thomas L. Thacker that appeared in the Fall 2019 issue of the Friends Journal.  It tells the story of Joe M. Randerson, a Mustang pilot who, during a strafing mission, was shot down Sept. 3, 1944 and helped by Serbs under Draza Mihailovich, leader of one of the anti-German Resistance groups in Yugoslavia.
