Frederick T. Kaveney
EAST FALMOUTH – Frederick T. Kaveney, 97, of East Falmouth, passed away peacefully at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home on Oct. 12, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Lynch) Kaveney and son of the late Dominick and Gertrude Kaveney.
Frederick attended Boston public schools. He served in the U.S. Army in infantry during WWII. During his military career he belonged to the “Flying Tigers” in the China Campaign and India Burma Campaign. He also belonged to the 11th Bomb Squad 14th Air Force. He was injured during combat behind enemy lines. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, Two Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Air Medal, and American Defense Medal.
When he returned home he worked as a painter for many years. Frederick and Mary eventually retired to Cape Cod. He was a loving husband, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his wife Mary of 63 years, Frederick is survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Austin P., Dominick J., Walter J. Kaveney and his sister Gertrude Devine.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee on Thursday Oct. 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church 167 E. Falmouth Highway (Rte 28) East Falmouth on Friday Oct. 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:30 a.m.
