Blood, Arlie James

Arlie James Blood, age 98 of Canyon Lake, California entered eternal life on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at home, in the company of family. Born Thursday, December 30, 1915 in Little Falls, Minnesota, he was the son of the late James Blood and the late Minnie Roneson Blood.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Blood..

Surviving are his loving wife of 73 years, Lucille Blood; sons, Stephen Blood, Michael Blood and Jay Blood; sisters, Leone Folkens and Donna; and 4 grandchildren..

A funeral service with military honors will be at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, May 21st at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside. Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #4.

The book tells the story of the author growing up during the depression, his burning desire to become a pilot and the realization of that dream when he joins the U.S Army Air Corps. During WW 2 He was shot down, evaded capture and joined A French Maquis Group. While participating in a raid against Germans he was captured. He later made a daring escape and joined another Maquis Group where he devised a plan to sucessfully liberate two French Cities. After 50 years he managed to locate and visit members of the French Resistance group he was with.
