John Vasquez Born in Sulpher, LA and passed away in Santa Clara.
John served in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier from 1943 to 1945. His plane was shot down over Italy and he was a POW for several months. He was honorably discharged shortly thereafter with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a proud veteran who served with distinction.
After his military service, John worked as a construction laborer and then a carpenter, later working his way up to construction superintendent.
John was preceded in death by his grandson, Geoffrey Pons. He is survived by his children, Jenny Pons, Albert Vasquez, and Lynnda Muniz (Sal); grandchildren, Marc Muniz, and Andrea Pizano (Michael Sr); and great-grandchildren, Ariana, and Michael Jr.
John will be interred at Golden Gate National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
