Curfews imposed by the Germans were a way of controlling the population, making it all the more difficult for the citizens of the Nazi-occupied countries to aid downed Allied airmen. The poster below, warning of blackout regulations, was liberated by 1st Lt Charles V. Carlson, bombardier on the “Shack Rabbit 3,” from the Hotel Maurice in Paris in September 1944.
