Past Reunions

The wide variety of activities at each of the AFEES reunions for past years can be seen below.  For greater detail,  see the schedules and post-reunion stories in the AFEES newsletter. Go to the page on this website featuring the newsletter, known as Communications.  Click on  the March/Spring and June/Summer issues for reunion details on that year’s reunion.  Reunions for 1964 to 1991 were copied from a list in the August 2005 issue of Communications, which did not contain further details.  Below the list is a table from the August 2006 Special Edition of Communications which lists the reunions and the number of people attending from 1964-2006.

  • 1978 – Pittsburg, PA
  • 1979 – Phoenix, AZ (joint meeting with 8th AF)
  • 1980 – Orlando, FL (joint meeting with 8th AF)
  • 1982 – Cincinnatti, OH (joint meeting with 8th AF)
  • 1984 – New York, NY
  • 1985 – Trip to Europe
  • 1986 – Atlanta, GA

  • 1988 – Denver, CO
  • 1989 – Pittsburg, PA
  • 1990 – Memphis, TN.  This same year 35 evaders and wives plus RCAF went to Europe to see helpers.

  • 1992 – Savannah, GA (Raddison Plaza Savannah, “First Lady of Savannah” riverboat cruise, tour of Fort Stewart)
  • 1993 – St. Louis, MO (St. Louis Marriott Pavilion Downtown, lunch on the Mississippi)
  • 1994 – Fort Worth, Texas (Worthington Hotel, annual arts festival and fair, Meachum Field, tour the flying B-17 “Chuckie”, presentation by the Comanche Indian Ben Tahmahkera)
  • 1995 – Toronto, Canada (Royal York Hotel, joint meeting of AFEES and Canadian branch of Royal Air Forces Escaping Society, tour of Toronto, tour of Niagara Falls)
  • 1996 – Savannah, GA (Savannah Riverfront Marriott , tour of Savannah, Mighty 8th AF Heritage Museum)
  • 1997 – Dayton, Ohio (Dayton Marriott, Patterson Homestead, Wright Brothers’ Mansion, Woodland Cemetery, National Cash Register, Packard Museum, Carillon Park, Wright-Patterson AFB, USAF Museum)
  • 1998 – Falls Church, VA (Fairview Park Marriott, Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Mount Vernon)
  • 1999 – Mesa, AZ (Arizona Golf Resort & Convention Center, Champlin Fighter Museum, Dolly Steamboat, Rockin “R” Ranch). Post-reunion trip to the Grand Canyon.
  • 2000 –  Columbia, MO (Ramada Inn Conference Center, day trip to Fulton, MO including Churchill Memorial, Daniel Boone’s life interpretation, two-day airshow at local airport)
  • 2001 – Spokane, WA (WestCoast Ridpath Hotel, Fairchild AFB, tour of Spokane). Post-reunion cruise to Alaska.
  • 2002 – Tampa Bay, FL (Wyndam Westshore Hotel, US Coast Guard Station, MacDill AFB)
  • 2003 – Wichita Falls, TX (Holiday Inn and Multi-Purpose Events Center; Sheppard AFB, TX; Fort Sill, OK)
  • 2004 – Philadelphia, PA (Valley Forge Hilton Hotel, King of Prussia, PA; Army War College; Valley Forge Military Academy).  News story from Air Force Link.
