“We wish to bring to your notice two forthcoming events of great interest.
The first is a talk on Wednesday January 27th, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, at 1830 at the Italian Cultural Institute, 39 Belgrave Square, London. The lecture, which is in English and will be given by Umberto Gentiloni Silveri, Professor of Contemporary History at Rome’s Università La Sapienza, will focus on Auschwitz and prisoner of war camps. Presenting his book Bombardare Auschwitz, Prof. Gentiloni will discuss the pressure on the Allies to bombard Auschwitz and explain why this never took place.
Information will be available on http://www.iiclondra.esteri.it/IIC_Londra.
The second event is the fifth Tenna Valley Freedom Trail, based on Servigliano in the Marche, east Italy. Running from l1th-16th May 2016 (including arrival and departure days) it is co-hosted with the Escape Lines Memorial Society (ELMS). It is a wonderful opportunity to walk in beautiful countryside while visiting villages and memorials closely connected to the escape of Allied prisoners of war and the refuge given them by the local people.
Trust members on previous Tenna Valley trails have been overwhelmed by the hospitality of the villagers, who attach great importance to keeping these memories alive. Several supporters have succeeded in reuniting with families that sheltered their fathers.
Please see the attached document for details about the walks, accommodation and transport. If you would like to join the Trail, please contact the chief organiser, Roger Stanton, director of ELMS, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kind regards, John Simkins, Administrator, MSMT, http://www.msmtrust.org.uk/“
